Chardonnay Reserve 2008

The bright yellow-green color shows the youth of this wine which shows aromas of tropical fruits, citrus and a hint of pears. This Chardonnay was aged briefly in American-oak barrels, and the contact with the charred wood gives depth and complexity to the wine. A wine produced in a specific terroir which keeps intact all the virtues of this variety, with a perfect harmony between the fruit and the wood - combining nature, art and variety.

Pairing: The complexity and charm of this wine complements perfectly red meats such as pork loin, pear marmalade in a reduction of the same wine, or a hint of ginger and glazed onions. Also, it goes wonderfully with shellfish or well-seasoned seafood and rice, and indeed cream desserts, pineapple, vanilla and citric marmalades.

No doubt the most prominent of the white varieties, the Chardonnay grape is sometimes referred to as the Queen of the whites. Much of the attraction to this varietal, for wine connoisseurs as well as the winemakers themselves, is its versatility. Chardonnay is the base for most sparkling wines and as a varietal is often aged in oak which affects the final flavor.
