Cabernet Syrah 2004

This is a wine of great character and charm with an intense Garnet color. On the nose the bouquet is red bell pepper, cassis and intense spice (brought by the Syrah). There are also hints of chocolate and vanilla, which the oak has contributed. Round and full in the mouth, there are balancing ripe tannins. Red berry fruit and black pepper come to mind. A long and delicious finish.

Pairing: This wine pairs perfectly with red meats such as lamb and venison, and goes well with spiced dishes and full-bodied sauces.

Syrah is the key grape variety from the Northern Rhone in France, Cabernet holds the same position in Bordeaux. An assemblage of these two varieties is something impossible in either French region, but in fact a perfect marriage. Both varieties have Blackcurrant flavors; with the Syrah contributing pepper, and the Cabernet firmness and elegance.
